Briefly, the Flex 2 is a waterproof Activity Tracker by Fitbit that is not equipped with as many features as the Fitbit Charge. It is a basic, attractive device that users love for being waterproof.
To accommodate the waterproof functionality, Fitbit has done away with the Heart Rate Tracker and the display. This can seem like a major blow to Fitbit’s otherwise advanced capabilities.
The Flex 2 is best suited for Activity Tracking beginners. It is the sleekest Fitbit on the shelf and is customisable by changing wrist bands and you can also throw in a bracelet if you like.
The Flex 2 performs Tracking for steps climbed, calories burned, active minutes, and Sleep with its SmartTrack feature. What’s missing is the Heart Rate Tracker and Floors Climbed tracker.
The Flex2 also does not have a display, which is a huge let-down. It uses a series of flashing LED Lights and Beeps to alert and indicate notifications.
Of course, you can get more detailed data on the App. But a Fitness Tracker without a display is just inexcusable.
The Tracking device on the Flex 2 is a tiny piece of rectangular equipment that is 0.2 x 0.4 x 1.3 inches (HWD) and weighs a mere 0.3 ounces. For such a small device, it achieves a lot.
The wristband is available in a variety of attractive colours which helps you to pick a colour of your choice.
The Flex 2’s Three-Axis Accelerometer performs all the Activity Tracking.
Auto-Tracking can be enabled for the following Sports and Activities: Walking, Running, Bicycling, Elliptical, Aerobics, Tennis, Basketball, and Soccer.
Accessorising the Flex 2 is the most exciting feature, especially for the Ladies. While it isn’t the greatest thing in the world for an Activity Tracker, playing around with design and colours, sounds like fun!
The flashing LED lights alert phone notifications as well, like calls and reminders.
The Flex 2 is a fully-waterproof swim tracker up to 150 feet underwater. It measures and tracks various swim stats like lap counts, pace, duration etc.
Fitbit Flex 2 Wireless Activity Tracker and Sleep Wristband Review:
- Tracks all major activities including swimming.
- Waterproof so you can wear it in the shower.
- Sleek, stylish, lightweight.
- Performs well and displays insightful data on the App.
- Responsive and efficient.
- Handy device for everyday use.
- Bit Expensive device with missing heart rate and display.
- Design is old.
- Flashing LEDs and vibrations are very confusing.
- Customisation does not serve any purpose. (Extra bands and accessories cost more).
For a device with no display, the 5-day battery back-up of the Flex 2 is a huge disappointment. A full charge takes up to 2 hours. While it does give you accurate data on the features it has, it is still expensive for this basic Tracker.
For a newbie in the Activity Wristband world, this is a great product to start with. But as you advance in your fitness routines, you will see the need for a more sophisticated product than this.
The best feature of the Flex is of course, the waterproof swim tracking. It works in saltwater as well, and will measure 4 different swim strokes namely, Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke, and Butterfly.
